If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to be an invisible person, you’ll have your mind blown with this Alejandro Maestre Gasteazi image series. First, though, you may be asking yourself these questions: Exactly, what are we looking at? A man covered in mud who gradually becomes increasingly invisible. How did the photographer achieve this strange, sculpture-like illusion?

Actually, the real process is Gasteazi asked his friend Julián to cover himself with a mixture of blue paint and mud. He then photographed Julián at various stages. Later, in Photoshop, Gasteazi cut around his subject’s body to make it look like his friend was literally emerging from nowhere like some kind of spectre or ghost.
