Book has been our friend since long time ago and apparently, we are not just satisfied by reading…We can to sleep on them, sit on them, cook with them, grow plant out of them. Got some books piling up in the corner just collecting dust? Turn them into flower pots! The honbachi, or book pot, was designed by graphic design agency Tokyo Pistol. I love how the moisture corrodes the pages and the book takes on a life of its own!

I am a kind of old fashioned person in term of reading book…. I know there are lots of electronic stuff to read 3-book. For me, however, I still prefer reading paper book. To avoid folding page to remember where I stop, a bookmark is necessary. Hence, I collect to 9 Creative and Innovative Bookmark Design in this post. READ functions as a bookmark and portable reading light. This is handy device that can be used for reading in a dark environment without disturbing others. It also functions as a reading aid to the elderly or those with poor eyesight.

6 LEDs provide a generous 8 hours of reading time. Simply leave the device in the sun during the day to recharge using its embedded Photovoltaic cells, removing the need to change batteries. When finished reading, the device functions as a slim bookmark and the light is turned off by a contact switch when the book is closed, and on once it is opened again. I once wrote a blog about “Sculptural Book Art” from Brian Dettmer. Today, I will present you another amazing book carving art from a British artist Su Blackwell who creates beautifully intricate paper models from old books. After trawling second hand bookshops looking for novels, she’ll spend months carefully slicing the paper to create impressive works of art.

The models look as if they ‘grow’ naturally from the spine and pages of the book.

I saw wood carving, fruit carving and even soap carving before. Never think about somebody can carve on book until one picture accidentally come across me. The more I saw, the more I admire those authors. Hence I prepare this poster and share those incredible carving with you guys. Most carving are made on old books (I kindly like those old fashioned feel), and some carving made on magazines which has high-quality paper and vivid color. And one is made on 8 brand new books (em… Just think that is a kind of waste if carving fails). Any way, let’s check out those masterpiece.
