If you have the same bad impression of messy and crowded dormitory, you might want to take a look at this cool student flat. Designed by Tengbom Architects, this flat is affordable, environmental-friendly and smart both in terms of design and choice of materials. Collaboration with students at the University of Lund, Tengbom Architects successfully build this truly compact-living flat still offers a comfortable sleeping-loft, kitchen, bathroom and a small garden with a patio within 10 Sqm , reducing the current requirements of 25 sqm by 60% through legal consent. Through an efficient layout and the use of cross laminated wood as a construction material the rent is reduced by 50 % and the ecological impact and carbon footprints is also significantly reduced. It looks like a pretty cool design.
What if your apartment could morph into different configurations to suit your daily needs? Sounds attemping? NYC-based architecture firm Studio Garneau recently completed the Transformer, a nifty renovation of a dilapidated, multi-room prewar apartment into a spacious, sunny loft that adapts throughout the day to meet its occupant’s needs. The design solution was to create a flexible, adaptive mini-loft that emphasizes open views while providing supportive functionality — architecture and furniture opens, folds and slides, responding to different uses. The centerpiece of the space is a large, track-mounted sliding wall that separates the bedroom from the living and dining areas. When the wall is positioned to enclose the bedroom, it exposes a floor-to-ceiling library wall of filing cabinets and adjustable shelves. And when it’s slid back, covering the library, visual clutter is reduced to create a serene minimalist look. Really thoughtful and creative design! [source].
The two things that I see common regarding perception of futuristic technology is that products are going to be compact and well integrated. In this post, I am to present you with some Innovative Compact Design.
