Bulgarian-born artist Christo Dagorov tried to give his answer by making the lips a canvas for a variety of surreal images, from landscapes to melanges of bodies to circuitry. London based makeup artist Laura Jenkinson uses her chin as a canvas, paints famous and familiar cartoon characters on her lips and around her mouth, using face paint and traditional cosmetics. Her paintings include The Cookie Monster, Shrek and Taz the Tasmanian Devil and feature in a series of Instagram images. Despite the images looking painstakingly accurate, Laura says that her method of achieving the look is incredibly simple. As she said “I find a picture and then just hold it up to the mirror as a guide and draw straight onto my face – it’s easier than you think!”.
