Seoul, South Korea, is a vibrant and colorful city. But, during the annual 3 week monsoon season, Seoul’s energy and color disappear under the dark cloud and people staying indoors. To brighten up the gloomy streets, a team of designers and art directors teamed up with PANTONE to launch a wonderful street art project titled ‘Project Monsoon’. Using hydrochromic paint—a type of paint that changes from transparent to opaque when it gets wet, the team paint some colorful murals inspired by South Korean culture which emphasizes “the importance of the flow of the river”. These exuberant pieces are then unexpectedly unveiled as rain falls from the cheerless gray sky and the water droplets come in contact with the ground. So when the mosoon season comes, the residents of Seoul can have something to look forward to whenever they find themselves reaching for their umbrellas.
Italian street artist Caiffa Cosimo, creates a fantastic series of street art murals that interact with their surroundings, seeming to leap off of the walls and invade our world in an amusing and mischievous way. Depicting such images as a round-faced man pouring paint on the ground, an attractive woman lifting the sidewalk to sip the liquid beneath, and a mustachioed man continuing the lines of the crosswalk with a paint roller.
Using glowing UV paint, Vienna-based artist Bogi Fabian create gorgeous, luminescent murals that can only be seen under a black light. When the black light is off, the bedrooms looks completely normal. But as long as the light is flipped on, blank bedroom walls are suddenly covered with cosmic scenes, glittering stars, beautiful landscapes, and lush flora and fauna that emit an ethereal radiance in the darkness.
