If you ever wonder how frozen ocean wave looks like, Marsha Blaker and Paul DeSomma who are two glass artists from Kela’s, a glass art gallery in Kauai, Hawaii, have the right answer for you. Since they are surrounded by water on a daily basis, they’ve developed a unique talent for capturing the power and motion of the sea. Alough they are properly not the right vases for flower, they are excellent conversation pieces nonetheless. You can find more beautiful glass art inspired by ocean on Marsha and Paul’s website.
You are right! The flower is floating in the water! But how that is possible? The fact is, they are not really floating in the water, they just placed in a ripple shaped vase/plates which give the illusion that the blooms have figured out how to defy gravity. Developed by Japanese product design firm, Oodesign, the lightweight vases have a small slit in the center, in which a single flower can be placed. The stems stick through the bottom, and directly into the larger bowl, so that the process of water absorption isn’t interrupted. And since the flower is not actually fixed – they just float nonchalantly on the water, which means they can change their position and appearance in accordance with the movement of the air.
