If you’ve ever wished you could carry a giant order of McDonald‘s fries on your back, your dream has officially come true. Meet the McDonald’s Big Fries Backpack, a fun limited-edition accessory that looks just like an oversized order of fries—and yes, it’s every bit as playful as it sounds.
The story behind the McDonald’s Big Fries Backpack is even better. Instead of coming from an in-house design team, it was inspired by craft blogger Daomeidan, a longtime McDonald’s fan who has spent years turning the brand’s iconic packaging into handmade creations. After spotting one of the blogger’s designs, McDonald’s China worked together with the creator to transform the fan-made concept into an official collectible for its 2026 Big Fries Day celebration.
The backpack is packed with clever details that any McDonald’s lover will recognize. Its shape is inspired by the brand’s familiar brown takeaway bag, while oversized Golden Arches decorate the front. Even better, the side pockets are designed like giant fries cartons, making it easy to grab a snack while you’re on the move. There’s even a dedicated holder for ketchup packets and an oversized receipt hanging from the bag to complete the illusion that you’re carrying a supersized McDonald’s order.

The release celebrates McDonald’s China’s annual Big Fries Day, a tradition built around a clever Chinese pun. The solar term Dashu (Great Heat) sounds almost identical to Da Shu, which means “large fries” in Chinese. Since 2015, McDonald’s China has embraced the wordplay with special promotions, exclusive merchandise, and fun in-store events, turning “eating large fries during Great Heat” into a summer tradition for many fans.
What makes this backpack especially charming is that it celebrates creativity just as much as fries. Daomeidan’s handmade “Meal Logs” series has reimagined McDonald’s packaging for years, and seeing one of those fan creations become an official product is a reminder that great ideas really can come from the community. For McDonald’s fans, this oversized backpack is more than just quirky merchandise—it’s a fun tribute to the people who love the brand most.
