Gingerbread can not only made man or house, it can be used to create something even cooler, such as Groot, Smaug, Xenomorph or Darth Vader. Yeah, I am not kidding. Every Christmas, artist Caroline Eriksson has made something amazing out of gingerbread. It started back in 2013 when she made an Optimus Prime. Since then she’s made a Xenomorph, dragon, Darth Vader and this year Groot!

To create her gingerbread sculptures, Eriksson started by building a metal skeleton. The rest is simply gingerbread and melted sugar! For the curved areas, Eriksson says the pieces are soft and malleable if applied fresh out the oven. She also mentions that she adjusts her recipe to use twice the amount of syrup and no baking powder to make the gingerbread harder and give it a smoother surface.

While such masterpiece took times and usually over weeks. So I guess we shouldn’t expect these pieces are edible. But no matter whether it is, these are the most awesome gingerbread sculptures I’ve seen.
