Although I am a raincoat person, I still fall in love with the minimalist design of the Sa Umbrella at the first glance. Generally, it hides all the things I don’t like about any umbrella – the metal tip, the spokes, the imperfect folds when you close it, the handle with the button/trigger and even the spiderweb of metal pipes that you see on the underside of the fabric once it’s open. Like origami, The Sa umbrella uses planar tension to generate its form. The inner and outer canopies expand and contract in unison to open and close the umbrella. This new design allows the umbrella to be lighter, stronger and will last longer. Furthermore, since the material is flexible when not in tension, it can easily bounce back into shape, even when exposed to high winds. Another great feature is the completely innovative internalized handle mechanism and magnetic closure system. Using a simple twist to open the umberlla and an easy pull to close it. Looks like a really great design right? But we all know the good design comes with price, not sure do you think is the umbrella worth it $149 price tag.
