Tucked away in the heart of Kraków, Poland, this vibrant apartment is a retro dream come to life. Designed by Butterfly Studio, the 84-square-meter (about 900 square feet) space belongs to a young couple who wanted a home filled with bold color, flexible spaces, and clever functionality.
Architects Anna Baranowska and Joanna Felczuk reimagined the original layout, removing one room to open up the living space. This smart move created room for an L-shaped sofa and an extendable dining table—perfect for hosting friends or cozy nights in. The kitchen, now a social hub, features a custom island with hidden storage instead of bar seating. Functional and stylish.
Color plays a starring role throughout this retro-inspired Kraków apartment. Rich shades of green, rust, burgundy, and blue are paired with textures like checkered rugs, patterned tiles, and soft curves. Lighting feels like sculpture, adding personality to each corner.

The entryway makes a bold first impression with a burgundy wardrobe and rounded bench. That geometric theme repeats throughout the home—from the curvy kitchen island to a circular media unit—tying everything together visually.
Even the hallway, once a design challenge, became a standout space. Soft wall sconces, layered millwork, and a dramatic anthracite wall turn it into a highlight rather than an afterthought.

The bedroom offers a calmer vibe with green walls and a terracotta ceiling for a cozy wraparound feel. A custom headboard doubles as a vanity, blending form and function.
Each bathroom has its own personality—one earthy with terracotta tiles, the other bold with burgundy floors and blue cabinetry. And behind all the beauty? Smart storage keeps the space serene.

This colorful apartment design shows that small-space living doesn’t mean sacrificing style—or personality.
