If you need a quick pick-me-up today, trust me—you’ve come to the right place! The finalists for the 2026 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards were just revealed, and they are absolute comedy gold. This year, photographers from 112 countries sent in a record-breaking 10,000 entries. Nature truly has zero chill, and these snapshot moments prove animals are just as quirky, dramatic, and expressive as we are.
I’ve been obsessing over a few photos in particular that prove tiny critters make the biggest impression. For instance, there’s a praying mantis lounging on a leaf like an absolute supermodel mid-photoshoot, and a cute blue damselfly casually waving hello through a leaf cutout. Another bird is completely sprawled out inside a bright pink flower petal living its best spa life, while a bright green chameleon tiptoes across the ground with total cartoon-villain energy. To top it all off, a round little goldcrest bird stares down the camera lens with sheer, hilarious attitude.
Beyond all the laughs, there’s a wonderful cause behind the humor. Photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam launched these awards back in 2015 to celebrate the natural world and boost wildlife conservation through joy.
