Growing up wandering through the gorgeous Rocky Mountain forests of Colorado, artist Marisa Aragon Ware learned to spot the beauty in woodland wildflowers, fungi, and birds. Today, she’s turning that lifelong love for the outdoors into the most intricate, jaw-dropping art you’ve ever seen.
Using a meticulous process of cutting and scoring, she crafts delicate curves that perfectly mimic real leaves, animal bones, feathers, and insect wings. The coolest part? It’s all made from plain white paper. She loves using it because it’s a deeply familiar, everyday material that most of us just toss away without a second thought. Transforming something so ordinary into something totally unexpected is where the real magic happens.
“Our need for nature extends far beyond physical survival; it also nourishes imagination, spirituality, and our sense of meaning.” — Marisa Aragón Ware
As a true biophilic design artist, her work focuses heavily on human connection to ecosystems. Her breathtaking paper sculpture art acts as a gentle, beautiful reminder to reconnect with the wild world around us—and, more importantly, to protect it.
Lately, she has been shaking things up by stepping away from total perfection, experimenting with a “beginner’s mindset” and cool new mediums like cyanotypes. We can’t wait to see what gorgeous, wild creations she dreams up next!
