What was once a narrow, neutral office in Taipei has been transformed into a cozy, inviting home through a clever small modern apartment renovation. Designed for a young, independent woman, the 50-square-meter space embraces color, texture, and light to create a personal retreat full of warmth and style.
The apartment’s long corridor layout could have been a challenge—but instead, it became a feature. Using mirrors, soft lighting, and wallpaper, the design plays with depth and perspective to open up the space. Large ribbon windows flood the rooms with natural light, while color is used thoughtfully to define each zone.
Soft greens in the living area evoke calm and renewal, paired with white to keep things airy and bright. The kitchen, enclosed in a warm chestnut-toned “cube,” becomes the heart of the home—sociable, stylish, and functional. These colorful interiors reflect the client’s personality while making the space feel bigger and more dynamic.
A standout feature is the “Elisir” wallpaper from Wall&decò, running from the entry to the kitchen. It mimics curtains, adding softness and helping the hallway feel wider. Plaster wall panels with rounded vertical rods, and wood slats in the bathroom, introduce subtle texture and rhythm throughout.
This modern apartment design shows how even compact spaces can feel spacious and full of character when color and materials are used with care.
