Located in a Mumbai suburb, the Vaulted Monochrome Haus by DIG Architects is a 4,300-square-foot minimalist home designed for a family of four. The vaulted ceiling serves as its defining feature, creating a seamless blend of architecture and aesthetics. A monochrome palette, paired with materials like gabion walls, frosted glass bricks, and Ceppo De Gre stone, brings texture and character to the space.

Entrance & Living Area

Stepping inside, visitors are met with an interplay of light and texture. A frosted glass brick partition softly diffuses light, separating the entrance from the bar. The living room, with its striking vaulted ceiling, serves as the home’s heart, effortlessly hosting gatherings, dining, and film screenings.

Dining & Kitchen

Adjacent to the living space, the dining area is designed for connection, with clear sightlines that enhance interaction. Overhead, the Moon pendant light by Davide Groppi adds a celestial touch. The open kitchen, seamlessly integrated, reinforces the home’s cohesive design.

Private Quarters

The primary bedroom continues the monochrome theme, featuring a four-poster bed against a backlit frosted glass brick wall. Sliding partitions provide flexibility, blending function with elegance. In contrast, the daughter’s room moves away from the grayscale aesthetic, embracing a predominantly white palette for a softer, brighter feel.

A Thoughtfully Designed Layout

While much of the original layout remains, key changes enhance spatial efficiency. A guest bedroom was transformed into a study, allowing for an expanded primary suite with a walk-in closet. The living area, designed for social gatherings, connects to an open kitchen and custom bar, fostering an inviting and interactive environment.

By merging minimalism with bold architectural elements, the Vaulted Monochrome Haus is a standout example of monochrome apartment design that is both sophisticated and inviting.
