Artist Mohsen Heydari Yeganeh, along with his collaborator Arman, has mastered the art of turning forgotten clutter into playful, upcycled animal sculptures. They spend their time foraging through resale shops and back alleys to rescue discarded materials like broken tools, weathered wooden handles, bent metal, and vibrant fabric scraps.
Instead of letting these items end up in a landfill, Mohsen binds them together using tightly coiled wire and pure imagination. The results are delightful! Take a look at these quirky creations—one moment you’re staring at an old pair of embroidery scissors, and the next, it’s transformed into the sharp beak of a colorful, patterned bird. Another piece wraps layers of wire around discarded metal to form a stately ram with majestic, curling horns.
Mohsen affectionately refers to his fantastical lineup of creatures as “flying garbage.” There is something so charming about how these upcycled animal sculptures breathe fresh, whimsical energy into forgotten objects. It’s a wonderful reminder that with a little vision, even everyday discarded materials can find new life as art.
