Tadayasu Co., Ltd., producer of traditional Japanese armor, has released a set of intricately crafted bottle toppers in the guise of famous samurai helmets. So far, they have designed Tokugawa Ieyasu Bottle Helmet, Oda Nobunaga Bottle Helmet, Uesugi Kenshin Bottle Helmet, Sanada Yukimura Bottle Helmet and Date Masamune Bottle Helmet.

According to the company, the Samurai Bottle Helmet was given birth by our desire to have people gain a stronger sense of familiarity with the traditional craftsmanship of Edo armor. The kabuto helmet, a symbol of Japan’s traditional armor craftsmanship, is exquisitely reproduced. Thoughts are turned to feudal warlords… Your favorite bottle becomes a “samurai,” and protects your thoughts and feelings.

Although I am not crazy about their functionality as bottle topper, these well-crafted ornaments are definitely perfect for a history buff interested in legendary warriors of the Sengoku period of Japanese history. If you are interested, one bottle helmet will set you back 30,000 yen (US$274) at Tadayasu’s website. For a true samurai buff, however, that is a small price to pay for a well-crafted collectible.
