Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. There is nothing new about this traditional craft. However, contemporary artists are exploring the possibilities of using this age-old decorative art to make something different. Just like paper quilling artist Vesna Rikic uses this meticulous techniques to recreate the painting her like most.

According to Rikic “[The] picture[s] I create are entirely my choice and in them. Sometimes when I like some painting I copy it in [the] quilling technique, and sometimes I just leave it to my own imagination and feelings.” Depending on the complexity of the design, each piece can take days or even weeks to make. However, the results are totally worth it – each work appears as luxuriant as a painting.

Here are some of the quilling art by Rikic, there are more amazing work on her Instagram. Just head over to keep up to date with her latest creations.
