We have featured many sculpted cakes on designswan and in most times, I won’t want to eat the cake before it looks so cute or beautiful. But this time, when I looked at the turkey cake, I just simply don’t want to eat it.

Sarah Hardy, the British baker, has been known for a long time to those that are into baking, she just recently went viral with her raw turkey cake. Yeah, Raw! Seriously! Who wants to eat a raw turkey? No matter how realistic it looks like! It is RAW! Although someone calls it as a perfect Thanksgiving treat, for me, it is a really bad joke. Even people realized that is just a cake, I still doubt how many people want to give it a try. And with a $600 price tag, I am actually speechless.

But anyway, here is some details about Sarah’s raw bird cake: Her turkey cake is made from 4 layers of sponge layered with bright pink buttercream icing, giving the turkey it’s realistic pink skin tone. To give the impression of plucked skin, Sarah makes small dots of marzipan all over the cake. It is the final layer on the turkey, after which Sarah puts a string around the turkey’s legs and paints some more details with a food dye. Just before serving, a syrup is glazed on the cake to give it a shiny appearance. If you’d like to make this cake yourself, here’s a link to a tutorial.
