Working the hundred of people, Atlanta-based artist Craig Alan has recreated paintings of famous celebrities from the aerial photographs. These portraits are created entirely using other humans as ‘pixels’ and the results are pretty amazing. Most of the people used to create this project are outfitted in dark clothing to contrast easily with the stark white ground. But I believe Craig must do some digital editing around the lip areas since the shadow of poeple there are also red. But anyway, it is pretty unique to paint person with person. Up to now, Craig has created paintings of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Elvis Presley and also the Statue of Liberty.
