Chien Chu Lee is not the first one who carves pencil lead and probably would not be the last one. While these patient and skillful artists just keep pushing my understanding of how cool pencil lead carving can be.
In Taiwanese artist Chien Chu Lee’s hands, ordinary pencils are transformed into mind-blowing miniature sculptures. From letters to cartoon characters, from heart to landscape, each tiny artwork showcases this artist’s admirable patience and steady hands. But Lee isn’t satisfied with these. It’s been Lee’s dream to carve a link chain from pencil lead. And it is not just a chain but a super long chain! The incredible piece was made by meticulously carving each tiny, individual link without breaking the pencil tip.
