May is officially the craziest time of the year for our feathered friends. Millions of birds are currently flying back north to nest and breed, making it the perfect moment to look out your window. If you listen closely in your backyard, you’ll probably catch a glimpse of some stunning, unusual travelers stopping by for a quick snack.
Because we have birds on the brain, it feels so right that Vasilisa Romanenko’s solo art exhibition, Flora & Flight, is running all month long at Arch Enemy Arts.
Honestly, her detailed acrylic bird paintings are an absolute dream. Ranging from tiny six-inch pieces to larger canvases, they place gorgeous birds right in the middle of bright, blooming flowers. They feel so intimate and inviting—bringing us face-to-face with creatures that usually fly away the second we blink! You’ll find peaceful white doves hidden among peonies and poppies, and cute dark-eyed juncos perching on colorful hollyhocks.
The gallery puts it perfectly: “Each bird in Vasilisa’s work carries such a wonderful sense of form and character.” Every single leaf and flower feels completely alive.
If you want to experience this beautiful spring bird art in person, this lovely art exhibition continues through May 31 in Philadelphia. Can’t make it to Philly? You can also see more of her incredible bird paintings on Romanenko’s Instagram. Happy bird-watching!
