If you are asked to improve the design of toothpaste tube, most of you might have the same idea like me – tube is tube, what else can you make a tube better? However, the students (Sungmin Hong, Yubin Choi, Yun Kim, Mi Jang and Seokgyu Hwang ) from Dankook University don’t think that way. They smartly give a hole to the toothpaste tube at the end to help to squeeze out the last bit of paste. Look at this inventive design, the hole at the end of the tube is meant to be used as a spinner. Simply put your finger in and give the tube a good spin, centrifugal force will push the toothpaste towards the tube top and make for an easy squeeze. It is a quite interesting design and will definitely add some fun to the tooth brushing time. However, thinking about the toothpaste you can save from the design and the extra money you need to pay for the new design, it might not really worth it. But I should still say it is a quite clever idea.
We have presented many innovative or creative shoe designs here, however, today’s design is probably the most useful and meaningful one. If you had children, you know there feet grow like weeds. You have to keep buying them new shoes even the old ones are still in good quality. The situation goes worse for those impoverished children who often have difficulty getting new shoes once they outgrow their old ones – or any shoes at all.
If you live in a small apartment without balcony like I did, it is quite challenge to get touch with sun and see sky on top of my head. To help people like me, architect and designer Aldana Ferrer Garcia has created three different window concepts called “More Sky” which might be able to improve this situation. By simply twisting and expanding, this innovative window system will transform from conventional-looking windows into unique spaces, allowing people to enjoy the surrounding outdoor scenery better. According to the designer, the “More Sky” system will work with existing types of windows for easy installation while being specifically adapted to the human body. Not sure how much it will cost if the design comes into production. It does sound like a doable way to have more outdoor experience from the limited square footage.
We all know the store bought shoes not always fit perfectly, hence we always have to buy something a bit larger to be comfortable. Vibram, a Japanese company come up with a innovative solution to solve this problem – the Furoshiki wrapping shoes. Inspired by Furoshiki – a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth used for transporting goods, technically, it is a sole with wraps attached. Coming with 5 colors, these novel shoes can be bought from the Japanese Vibram store for about $140 USD. What do you like these shoes? It sounds pretty cool to me, but it looks like it only better for warm weather.
